Code Welding

Code welding is the foundation on which every good weld process is built. There are many variables to consider when planning, building and inspecting a weldment. Therefore, codes exist to address each variable and ensure the end product will safely serve its purpose. We will share a couple of ways by which we achieve success in code welding.

Firstly, when we see a code called out on a job, we follow that code to the minor detail. Believe it or not, some weld shops ignore certain parts of an AWS code because they don’t feel it’s essential. Our team follows the rules; we will weld to the WPS and PQR every time. After all, we must protect our customers and whoever uses the product.

Another key to our code welding success revolves around communication methods. In the past, we determined that most welding errors were the result of failed communication. We address this issue by starting each job with a “Kick-off Meeting,” which includes the welder(s), CWI, and Project Manager. Also, every welder has a tablet with access to email, Microsoft Teams, prints, 3D models, WPS, and more.

Our goal is to build long-lasting partnerships. If you share that same goal, get in touch with our sales team. Email sales@napoleonmachine.com or schedule a meeting.

Quality built into every process.

Properly inspecting parts is an important aspect of our business. However, if you are catching errors during the inspection process, it is often too late. There are significant expenses associated with rework, and many times errors will lead to late deliveries. This is why we build quality into every process. For example, we have kickoff meetings for each job. Our welders, machinists, programmers, project managers, and painters meet and review technical data in close detail. This helps iron out potential issues on the front end. We have also invested in the BLUCO Floor Rail System, which is a precision modular welding tool.

Napoleon Machine receives supplier of the year award
Standing out in a sea of fabrication and machine shops.

Thousands of welding shops can perform code welding. If you want to stand out in the crowd, you have to do more than deliver quality parts on time. That is why we focus on service. From quote to delivery, we let the golden rule guide us. For example, we send a weekly report that shows what is going on with your part. If a machine part is running behind, we report it.  We won’t always get it right, but we will make it right.  You don’t have to take us at our word; check out our customer feedback.

Are short lead times important to you?

Our scheduling tool sends out lead time notices when a machine or department gets low on work.  This allows our customers to take advantage of cheaper rates and faster turn-around.
