Precision Large Part Machining
Home » SERVICES » CNC MACHINING » Precision Large Part
Precision large part machining is the service that best defines our shop. We have spent a lot of money bringing precision machining practices to large part CNC machining. For example, precision machining requires state-of-the-art tools. Therefore, we have invested in modular fixtures, magnetic work-holding systems, shrink fit tooling, automated probing, and the latest CNC programming software. Also, each machine is laser leveled, and ball barred regularly.
While state-of-the-art tools are essential, having skilled tradesmen with large part precision machining experience is vital. Even with two-thirds of our workforce under 30, we have hundreds of years of combined experience. Precision machining large parts is what we do all day, every day.
Lastly, we have the tools needed to check tight GD&T on large parts. For example, there are times when CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) inspection isn’t an option due to a part’s size. Therefore, we have invested in the FARO Vantage Laser Tracker, FAROArm Quantum, and Mahr Federal Electronic Level System. If you have a large part that requires tight tolerance CNC machining, please email sales@napoleonmachine.com. Or, you can schedule a meeting with our sales team.
We have expert knowledge and the right tools for precision large part machining.
Our team consists of highly trained inspection experts. They are well versed in GD&T and use state-of-the-art inspection tools. For example, we use FARO laser tools to inspect most parts. Between our expert team and high-end devices, you can expect quality parts.

Precision Large Part Machining Capabilities
We go big.

We have the right tools for the job.
- Boring
- Counter-Sinking
- Drilling
- Milling
- Reaming
- Tapping
- Counter-Boring
- Cutting
- Facing
- Profiling
- Surfacing
- Threading

Quality built into every process.
Properly inspecting parts is an important aspect of our business. However, if you are catching errors in the inspection process, it is too late. There are expenses associated with rework, and often errors cause late deliveries. This is why we build quality into every process. For example, we have kickoff meetings for each job. Our welders, machinists, programmers, project managers, and painters meet and review prints in close detail and iron out any issues on the front end. We have invested in modular fixtures, shrink fit tooling, pre-setters, automated probing software, and more. All of these tools help ensure quality in manufacturing.

Machine uses a special process to accomplish this flatness. 1 of 4 Surfaces are measured with Mahr Federal
Electronic Levels which compare the orientation
attitude of separate or adjacent horizontal surfaces.
This tools resolution is 6 μin per foot (.1 arc second). 2 of 4 Data collected from the Mahr Levels gets
uploaded into a custom excel based macro
that lays out the readings in arc seconds
based on data collection points. 3 of 4 Kevin Febrey explains to our customer how
we level machines and use their metrology
methods to create very tight tolerances. 4 of 4
Pictured above are two different types of inspection. The top photos show the FARO Advantage Laser Tracker in action. The bottom photo shows a precision machining process that uses Mahr Electronic Levels. In this instance, we machined a flatness of .0005, over 8-feet (2.44 m), across parallel linear guide rails. While the flatness is impressive, the process is expensive.

Standing out in a sea of fabrication and machine shops.

If you want to stand out in a crowd, you have to do more than deliver quality parts on time. At Napoleon Machine, we focus on good old fashion service. We live by the golden rule and let integrity guide our every move. Unfortunately, some companies believe virtue ends where a loss in dollars begins. Not here; we have put our money where our mouth is on many occasions.
In our opinion, integrity also means transparency. Therefore, we send a weekly update report that shows what is going on with every part. If we are running behind, we’ll report it right away.
Lastly, we won’t always get it right. But we will make it right. You don’t have to take us at our word; check out our customer feedback.
