Our journey towards better efficiency began with the visionary approach of Neil Hanenkratt, our CNC programming manager. By integrating Mastercam’s cutting-edge capabilities with a state-of-the-art machining center, we have significantly reduced the cycle times for critical defense components. Notably improving our contribution to the U.S. Army and Marine Corps’ prime contractors.
The implementation of advanced CAD/CAM technology using Mastercam Dynamic Motion has been a game-changer. This approach ensures even heat distribution and consistent chip thickness during the machining process. As a result we can run parts with reduced vibration and improved precision. We have doubled metal removal by transitioning to smaller cutting tools while exploiting our new five-axis machine. This has dramatically increased production speed from the conventional 10 hours per part to a mere 5.5 hours.
Our commitment to innovation extends beyond machining techniques to embrace efficient part programming. Mastercam’s offline programming capability has eliminated machine idle times and boosted overall productivity. Our strategy not only enhances operational efficiency but also improves setup and inspection times.
Our commitment to pressing forward with modern technology will ultimately contribute to our nation’s military capabilities. While we’re not large enough to be a prime, we most certainly pack a heavy punch for a shop our size.
